There
comes a time when the body says “I’ve done as many
events as I can do for now” and then it is time to relax
with a delightful ride on one of the Historic Wagon Ride tours.
Riders are treated to a 30-minute ride that starts at the Old City Jail, located
on Highway 9 just ½ block off Front Street. The tour includes touring
of gardens, old buildings, quaint homes from the 1800s and a trip around Blue
Eagle Lake. A guide will give the background information of each area and the
history of the town. It is a wonderful way to find out how Potato Days has evolved
through the years and how the town has grown to the size it is today.
The tours are on Friday, August 24th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again on
Saturday, August 25th from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The Historical
Society sponsors these rides but a free will is in each wagon to help
support their endeavors. Boarding times are on the hour and half hour.
The public is invited to enjoy a relaxing tour as guides carry them back to the
earlier years of Barnesville.
