Debuting
in 1999, Mashed Potato Wrestling is back for another fun-filled
year on Friday evening beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the Assumption
Church parking lot on North Front Street.
The contest, which is modeled on similar events
in Fort Fairfield, Maine and Clark, South Dakota will match teams
of two in a wrestling ring fashioned out of hay bales, tarps, and
filled with mashed potatoes! (Actually, it is the floor sweepings
from a plant, which are not edible, or outdated flakes that are
no longer saleable. No food is being wasted, as the leftover potato
mixture is fed to local cattle.)
There is no entry fee, and contestants will choose
their own partners. Competition will be limited to the first 12
pairs to sign up. Each pair will wrestle two three-minute rounds
with a one-minute break between rounds. A shirt will be awarded
to each participant.

Spectators: Don't forget the camera! This is
one event you may want to capture on film to prove to people that
there really is such a thing as Mashed Potato Wrestling!
