On your mark. Get Set. Peel!
One of several events dating back to the original Potato Days Festival is the Potato Peeling Contest. Although lots of things have changed over the decades and just about everything has become mechanized, the best way to peel a potato is still lots of elbow grease, a sharp knife or a good old fashioned potato peeler.
This year's competition will be held Saturday beginning at 12:00 on the main entertainment stage.
Each contestant is given three minutes to peel as many potatoes as possible. Potatoes must be peeled clean, however eyes need not be removed. The winner will be determined by the total net weight (pounds of potatoes less pounds of peel).
Cash prizes of $75, $50 and $25 will be awarded to the top three finishers as determined by the official rules and weighing.
