The
Potato Scramble was originally started to help kids better understand
how potatoes grow and are harvested.
The event is held in a potato field and
follows the regular Potato Picking Contest. Ages 4 – 16
are given the opportunity to hunt for potatoes. In addition to
taking home the potatoes they pick, there are specially marked
potatoes that earn the pint size pickers a shiny 50-cent piece.
CONTEST RULES
No pre-registration is required. The Potato Scramble is held on
Saturday morning, about 10:45. There are directional signs along
Highway 9, near McGrath Park, to help participants find the field.
A total of $200 is given in prizes.
