Prepared recipes will compete for “bragging rights” and some great prizes. The audience has a chance to taste the wonderful entries and place their vote for the coveted “People’s Choice Award.”

The popular Potato Cook-Off is a festival favorite for contestants and “spec-taters” alike! The 2008 category is Potato Dumplings. This category is sure to bring out some secret family recipes! Prepared recipes will compete for “bragging rights” and some great prizes. The audience has a chance to taste the wonderful entries and place their vote for the coveted “People’s Choice Award.” Recipes from prior years are featured in the Potato Days Souvenir Recipe Packet which can be purchased during the festival or on the website. The Cook-Off will be held on Friday, August 22, 2008, at 5 PM in air-conditioned Hildebrand Hall, next to Assumption Catholic Church.

CONTEST RULES
The rules are simple. Prepare your best Potato Dumpling recipe which must contain white potatoes. Sweet potatoes are not allowed in the recipe. Send in your entry form, and bring your prepared recipe to Hildebrand Hall at 4:30 PM on Friday, August 22th for the judging. Make a big batch to share and taste… go for the People’s Choice Award!

PRIZES
Contest winners will receive some great prizes of Barnesville Bucks, redeemable at local businesses - $75 for 1st Place, $50 for 2nd Place, and $25 for 3rd Place. There will also be a prize for the “People’s Choice Award” selected by our audience. Each contestant will receive a Potato Days Souvenir for their efforts.

The Potato Cook-Off is open to everyone. Entries are limited to one per person. An entry form must be received by August 15th along with a $5 entry fee and two copies of your recipe. To get an entry form, you may download it in PDF format or call to have an entry form mailed to you.
